Honoring:  Mr. Dick Van Dyke

The gal behind moosegal.com would like to present Dick Van Dyke as the very first entertainer to make the list. Many of us know this man from Disney Films, Diagnosis Murder and the Dick Van Dyke show. He is truly a very talented and dedicated entertainer whom did not allow time to slip away while hiding from the public eye. He has performed for a wide variety of audiences bringing joy, happiness and laughter to the minds of children and entertained adults of all ages.

I can still remember watching a Disney movie when I was small, and Mr.Van Dyke was the lead performer in this particular film. I was very young at that time and although I can’t remember the whole movie, I remember certain wonderful scenes with Mr. Van Dyke in his flying car. If you have not had the opportunity to see the 1968 classic, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and you have small children, I suggest you try to get a copy while it is still available. Another great role Mr. Van Dyke played, was Bert in the film “Mary Poppins”. I would also suggest you trying to get your hands on a copy of it as there is no way that any remake could ever match up to the performance of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

Although the roles I will remember Mr. Van Dyke for is mainly Disney, I would not want to rob him of his credit. Very talented and loved on Broadway for his performance in Bye Bye Birdie, the sitcom that many televisions across America was tuned in to, “The Dick Van Dyke Show”, not to mention the countless movies he played lead role in and the guest appearances on so many other shows, Mr. Van Dyke truly earned the number one position on my tribute list.

Thank you Mr. Van Dyke for all the roles, songs and memories. May you continue to entertain us for many years to come.
