Henry hadn't yet started decorating the tree with berries when Alan
arrived with a large chunk of birch bark loaded down with a heap of
snow and ice. |

Henry couldn't understand why Alan would bring a pile of snow and ice to
the special Christmas tree. Not wanting to stick his nose into
things, he decided to sit back and observe Alan Beaver. |

Alan began swishing the snow back and forth to uncover the chunks of
ice. Henry couldn't really see anything but it was evident that
this ice was very special to Alan. He watched as Alan strung the
chunks up on the tree with strips of cattail leaf. When
the sun hit them, they would glisten. |

Once Alan Beaver was done, Henry admired the way the tree looked.
He was anxious to begin putting the berries on and rushed past
Alan who was just moving away from the tree to get a look at it
himself.
|

Henry added all the berries to the tree. He was proud of the
job he had done and couldn't believe how colorful and exciting
the tree had become. He stood back beside Alan and they both stared at
in with pleasure. |

Sarah Rabbit just happened to pass by when she noticed Alan and Henry
staring at the tree. She stopped to see what it was they were
looking at and couldn't get over just how nice it looked. Almost
like an idea popped into her head, she hopped away without a word.
